Overview

 

This role assists with the delivery of digital marketing and lead generation plans, learning how prospective students are using and perceiving our digital channels to continually improve our approach. The work encompasses all phases of the customer journey for all levels of study (undergraduate, postgraduate etc.) and aims to raise awareness of the University and influence the decision making of prospective students and their influencers. The role requires an enthusiastic, creative individual with a passion for, and interest in, customer journey, digital and social platforms, analytics and content types. The post is part of a wider team which includes a range of high performing marketing, recruitment and events professionals and works closely with the Corporate Communications team. The team vision is to create the best possible prospective student experience at every touchpoint, in a collaborative and innovative way.

 

Main duties and responsibilities

 

  • Assist the Digital Marketing Officer in planning and executing digital marketing and lead generation plans.
  • Assist in implementing digital marketing initiatives across various channels, including website, email marketing, social media, search engine marketing, and display advertising.
  • Assist with monitoring and analysing campaign performance metrics.
  • Assist with the updating, management and optimisation of the online prospectus, study pages and campaign landing pages, ensuring they are up-to-date, inclusive, user-friendly, and optimised for search engines.
  • Assists with social media activities, including content creation, scheduling, monitoring engagement, and re-routing enquiries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including the campaigns and direct marketing teams, to ensure alignment and integration of digital marketing efforts.
  • Stay informed about digital marketing trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to contribute fresh ideas and insights.
  • Act as a brand guardian, driving appropriate usage and messaging by ensuring accurate and consistent representation within the brand and reputation guidelines, to create a clear, confident, consistent voice with correct use of visual ID.
  • Any other duties as required including attendance at events and other critical business activity throughout the year including evenings and weekends.

Essential criteria

 

  • A good honours degree or equivalent and recently graduated from the University of Sheffield in the last two years (either at PG or UG level). (assessed at: application)
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders at different levels. (assessed at application, interview)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create engaging content and adapt messaging for different platforms and audiences.(assessed at application, interview)
  • Experience of using digital marketing tools and platforms such as content management systems to publish content.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing, techniques and platforms, including social media marketing, content marketing, SEO and analytics. (assessed at application, interview)
  • Enthusiasm for learning and staying updated with the latest digital marketing trends, techniques, and industry developments. (assessed at application, interview)
  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational and time management skills, able to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. (assessed at application, interview)
  • Analytical mindset and the ability to interpret data and metrics to optimise campaigns and drive results.(assessed at application, interview)

 

Desirable criteria

 

  • Experience creating and presenting content on vertical channels like TikTok and Instagram. (assessed at application, interview).
  • Experience using enterprise social media management tools (such as Buffer) for content publishing and community management. (assessed at application, interview).

Grade: 4

Salary: £24,900 - £26,338 per annum with the potential to progress to £28,381 through sustained exceptional contribution.

Work arrangement: Full-time
