As a Domestic Assistant, you will:

  • Clean using the appropriate cleaning techniques, materials and equipment.
  • Use cleaning equipment and materials correctly and safely in accordance with health and safety regulations and have a good understanding of relevant health and safety and risk assessments associated with work procedures.
  • Complete COSHH, Manual Handling and Annual Fire Training and ensure health and safety protocols are strictly followed.
  • Report any cleaning equipment faults, damage or maintenance issues to the Cleaning Supervisor.
  • Ensure the safekeeping of keys during working hours.  Turn on alarms and lock doors after cleaning as appropriate.
  • Answer queries from students, staff and visitors in the building.
  • Carry out a thorough deep clean of specified areas as required, maintain stock of linen and sundries and carry out servicing/turn-around duties in guest accommodation areas.
  • Maintain an awareness of the wellbeing of students and refer any issues to the Cleaning Supervisor as necessary.
  • Report any accidents or near misses to the Cleaning Supervisor and/or Duty Leader.
  • Wear the appropriate uniform and PPE (provided) at all times.
  • Any other duties, commensurate with the grade of the post.
  • There will be elements of manual handling within the role. The appropriate training will be provided.
  • Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post

Work arrangement

Part Time- 20 hours per week Working Monday to Sunday on a 5 in 7 rota. The shift patterns are mostly Monday to Friday from 9am to 1pm however there is some weekend working and early shifts 6am to 10am and we will need you to be available for these with prior communication.
