Overview
As Education Manager, you will oversee and manage staff supporting a range of Education related processes that ensure and improve the effective organisation of our taught programmes. You will ensure policies and processes across the student journey are clear and straightforward, meet regulatory requirements, are consistently applied and deliver educational excellence.
Working collaboratively with the School Director of Education and School Manager, you will support the delivery of strategic objectives. You will improve the portfolio and curriculum within University regulations and external compliance requirements. You will work collaboratively with the Student Experience Manager to allocate responsibilities in a fair and equitable manner and oversee the work of team members to ensure a joined up approach for students and staff.
The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of Quality Assurance and curriculum related processes. An experienced line manager, they will be a strong leader of people and will be able to work collaboratively with colleagues across the institution to ensure education activities are delivered effectively and efficiently in line with University policies.
Main duties and responsibilities

Work collaboratively with the Director of Education and School Manager to support the effective delivery of the School’s Education strategy, looking for, developing and responding to education related actions as part of the planning process as appropriate.

Leadership of the Education Professional Service function, including line management of staff within the Education and Student Experience team as appropriate, taking an overview of activities and ensuring cover in absence.

Lead for School compliance in relation to the Office for Student (OfS) requirements, freedom of speech, and accreditation processes where relevant.

Oversight and management of all Quality Assurance and CMA compliance matters, providing expert advice to colleagues.

Inform evidence-based decision making on programme design, approval and delivery.

Oversight of the processes that support administration of the curriculum, including leading on programme and module development, amendment and closure.

Work with the Director of Education to support the development and implementation of curriculum related priorities, ensuring a programme level approach is embedded throughout the portfolio and identifying where improvements and efficiencies (from a student and staff perspective) can be achieved.

Management of academic misconduct processes.

Oversight of core education activities, including assessment and related processes, digital education (working closely with colleagues in Digital Learning), academic tutoring and timetabling, taking a programme level view.

Support and proactively engage in the Schools education annual review and reporting activities, including Annual Reflection and relevant data returns.

Active participation in relevant committees including School Education Committee and Programme and Module Oversight Subcommittee and key point of contact for education related central services teams.

Maintain a robust understanding of relevant internal and external policy and strategy and influence developments where appropriate.

Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.
