Overview

 

We are seeking to recruit a Lecturer in Speech and Language Therapy to join the School of Allied Health Professions, Pharmacy, Nursing and Midwifery.

● You will also be: an engaging, enthusiastic teacher who plays a key role in devising, designing, preparing, and delivering innovative teaching programmes and creating an inclusive academic environment

 

Our programmes include the BMedSci Speech and Language Therapy, the MMedSci Speech and Language Therapy (full and part time) and the BSc Speech and Language Therapy (Degree Apprenticeship). 

 

We are ideally looking for candidates with expertise in speech and language therapy in the areas of paediatrics/children/young people/learning disability. Other areas of expertise can also be considered. Other duties will include student engagement, student recruitment and student support.

Main duties and responsibilities

 

Research

  • Conduct innovative research leading to research publications of the highest quality.

  • Identify appropriate sources of funding and prepare research proposals for funding bodies.

  • Contribute to knowledge exchange and impact as appropriate to the research work

undertaken.

Teaching and Learning

  • Design, deliver and co-ordinate high-quality teaching, assessment, feedback and student support to enable effective learning

  • Contribute to the design, development and evaluation of programme modules that are accessible, inclusive and contribute to the University’s Education Pillar

  • Develop and implement ideas for improving teaching design, delivery and assessment.

Citizenship and Leadership

  • Actively contribute to the collective vision, mission and values of the University through individual action and inclusive, collaborative working.

  • Participate in and, as appropriate, have a role as a member of committees.

  • Carry out leadership roles as required.

  • Pursue involvement in professional activities such as refereeing papers, editing journals, refereeing research grants, external examining, organising conferences, committee membership and involvement with professional bodies.

  • Participate in and develop links with external stakeholders and contacts (within academia, NHS England, NHS Speech and Language Therapy services, Independent Speech and Language Therapy services, Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)  to foster collaboration, at a regional and national level.

  • Make ethical decisions in your role, embedding the University sustainability strategy into your working activities wherever possible 

  • Plan and prioritise your own daily research, teaching and administrative tasks as well as participate in longer term planning through contribution to policy development.

  • Contribute to the academic life of the School of Allied Health Professions, Pharmacy, Nursing and Midwifery.

  • Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post
