Overview
This opportunity is to work upon the 21st Century Oxford Authors edition of the work of Percy Bysshe Shelley. The candidate would support the editor in the production of this new edition. This edition (edited by Madeleine Callaghan) will present the poetry, drama, key letters, and selected prose of Percy Bysshe Shelley for twenty-first century readers—scholars, postgraduates, undergraduates, and the general reader—by providing a new breadth of selected poetry, accurate transcription, and comprehensively annotated texts. The edition will contain newly edited versions of the selected texts and reveal the range and diversity of Shelley’s career.

Main duties and responsibilities
- Take a lead role in the copy editing, using relevant primary sources.
- Read and review literature as appropriate.
- Establish texts and (some) commentaries for many of the major texts by the end of the contract.
- Assist the work of the editor by checking transcriptions and references, and helping with glosses and notes.
- Attend project meetings.
- Undertake research in the area of Romanticism and eighteenth/nineteenth century poetry and prose in line with project requirements.
- Manage data collection and storage on a day-to-day basis.
- Help with the maintenance and organisation of a database of relevant files (especially drafts of texts and commentary), clearly indicating the stage reached, and helping to find, retain and engage in critical discussion about associated material (e.g. critical articles/relevant contextual material).
- Liaise closely with other academics, advisers and administrators relevant to the study.
- Collect and analyse a variety of primary and secondary quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources.
- Support project reporting requirements, for example in relation to research project progress, finance, etc.
- Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.

- Achieved or be on track to achieving a PhD (or equivalent experience) in Romanticism, ideally focusing upon the work of Percy Bysshe Shelley [application form].
- Proven ability to carry out high quality research and disseminate research findings [application form and interview].
- Knowledge of relevant policies, ethics and quality standards regarding research practice [application form and interview].
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, experience of delivering presentations in order to disseminate research findings [application form and interview].

Desirable criteria
