Overview

We have the opportunity for recent or upcoming University of Sheffield graduates to join the Lead Generation team. Recruitment Interns deliver student recruitment activity in the South of England: London, the South East, the East of England and the South West. With a focus on activities that take place off campus (in schools and elsewhere). You may be required to complete activity in the North of England on occasion. These roles are home-based, working remotely in the South, with occasional visits to the University's main campus for meetings and to support events.

These roles cover all levels of study from undergraduate to postgraduate, with a specific focus on undergraduate, and strive to raise awareness of the University of Sheffield early in the customer journey with prospective students and their influencers to increase applications to the University. The role requires excellent interpersonal skills such as building positive relationships and collaborative work. You will require great communication skills in oral presentations, written text as well as organisation skills to manage a varied workload. We are looking for graduates with a passion for the University of Sheffield and the student experience that we offer, to inspire prospective students. An enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful postholder.

These posts are part of a central team that includes a range of high-performing marketing, recruitment and events professionals. The team vision is to create the best possible prospective student experience at every touchpoint, in a collaborative and innovative way. Post holders can expect to gain a wide range of transferable skills and experience across student recruitment, marketing and events.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Represent the University at recruitment events for both Undergraduate (such as school/college presentations, careers fairs and UCAS exhibitions) and Postgraduate (such as FindAMasters fairs), providing advice and insight whilst capturing leads from prospective students
  • The abovementioned events will require frequent travel across the South of England, but you may be required to travel to the North of England too on occasion.
  • You must hold a full UK driving licence, be confident driving long distances, and comfortable with overnight stays (work-related expenses are covered, you do not require access to your own vehicle)
  • Provide information, advice, and guidance to prospective students acting as a positive role model.
  • Work closely with the Student Recruitment Manager and Officers to deliver the UK recruitment strategy using face to face and digital recruitment methods.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
  • Plan and deliver short-term projects in collaboration with colleagues across MARC
  • Assist with the recruitment, training, and deployment of Student Ambassadors who will assist in the delivery of recruitment activities.
  • Collaborate with the Access Team to ensure messaging is embedded into Lead Generation activities
  • Effectively manage risks, including safeguarding & driving requirements.
  • This role will require postholders to engage in regulated activity relevant to children and young people through school and college engagement. The postholder will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check and relevant safeguarding training and uphold these principles to safeguard all participants
  • Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post attendance at on-campus events (e.g. open days) throughout the year, on weekends.
