Overview
With a reputation for high impact, Marketing, Admissions, Recruitment and Communications (MARC) leads the University’s core student recruitment activity, as well as enhances the institution's reputation as a global leader in research, teaching and industry collaboration.
This role within the Student Recruitment & Events team will lead a number of Student Recruitment events and initiatives, to support our recruitment efforts across all levels and audiences: UG, PGT, home and overseas. You will join the Student Recruitment & Events Management team, and be a key leader in driving forward impactful, and innovative recruitment activity, ensuring exceptional customer service and building trust in our delivery. Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management is essential for this role.
This position will have an initial project focus for the continued strategic development and delivery of a shared Student Ambassador pool, providing diverse and representative well-trained ambassadors for use as advocates for the university, sharing their own authentic lived experiences and deployed by colleagues across the MARC Directorate, Global Engagement, and wider university to support our home and international recruitment activity.
Events play a key role in the awareness raising of the University, and the decision making of prospective students and their supporters. This post will also lead, develop and deliver best in sector recruitment event activity, working closely with colleagues within Faculty Hubs, and across MARC to collaborate on these projects.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Be an active member of the Student Recruitment & Events Management team, leading, developing, and shaping recruitment activity across all platforms and audiences (UG, PG, in person and home) to deliver innovative, memorable and best in sector recruitment event activity.
- As one of three Student Recruitment Managers (Events), you will lead and develop best in sector recruitment events, working closely with colleagues within SRE, Faculty Hubs, and the wider MARC to deliver these engagement opportunities.
- Manage key relationships across the University (Careers service, SU, EFM etc), and work closely with colleagues across the MARC Directorate (such as Marketing, Customer Insight, Admissions and Access) and GE to effectively deliver and maximise opportunities and impactfulness of recruitment events and initiatives.
- Responsible for budget management, monitoring impact and ROI of all initiatives, to shape longer term developments based on customer feedback, horizon scanning and policy.
- Proactively engender a culture of continuous improvement and creativity.
- Ensure effective contingency planning and risk assessments are in place for all activity.
- Whilst projects may rotate across the Student Recruitment Managers (Events) as mutually agreed, one of the initial projects this role will focus on, is leading the development and delivery of the Student Ambassador project, a collaborative vision across MARC to create a shared ambassador pool, which is essential to the delivery of recruitment activity supporting UG, PG, home and international recruitment. This role is responsible for the continued effective delivery of recruitment and onboarding for Ambassadors, incorporating requirements from all stakeholders (across MARC, GE, and the wider university), to provide well-trained, diverse and representative ambassadors for deployment across all activities targeting home and international.
- As part of the Student Ambassador project, lead the continual improvement and development of student ambassador engagement, advocacy and reward plans, considering professional development opportunities, community building, communication plans and reporting to maximise the value and longevity of ambassador impact.
- Line management of the Student Recruitment Officer (Ambassadors).
- Any other duties as required, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post. This includes attendance at events and other critical business activity throughout the year including evenings and weekends.
