Overview
Contributing to the Estates & Facilities Management strategy, as a Sweeper Driver and Litter Picker, and external services, you will support day-to-day operations across the Transport & Logistics service.
Reporting to the Campus Transportation and Logistics Manager, based in either Transport Service or the Logistics service with the ability to support either service, you will carry out the operation of sweeper equipment and, where necessary, engage in manual litter picking duties to ensure the University pedestrian and car park areas remain safe and litter-free. The role will require a flexible, multi-skilled approach as your driving contribution will be deployed according to service delivery requirements.
Main duties and responsibilities
Carry out daily maintenance and checks on the allocated machine, reporting any defects.
- Emptying and washing out the sweeper hopper.
- Carry out external services to include litter picking, deep cleaning and grounds maintenance activity
- Drive and operate the machine safely around the required areas to the required discharge point.
- Respond politely to approaches from members of the public, students and members of University staff.
- Ensure that areas on the relevant round are cleaned in accordance with University Policy.
- Carry out manual sweeping in areas inaccessible to the sweeper machine, litter picking, and collection of other materials as required.
- Report accidents and incidents as required.
- Maintain records as required.
- Liaise with the Campus Transport and Logistics Manager in relation to sweeper breakdowns and/or reactive maintenance.
- Liaise with external maintenance contractors to ensure that all faults are recorded and resolved during planned maintenance visits.
